TOM WEIR

Tom joins Plane View Partners with 35 years of varied experience in the commercial airline industry, having worked for both OEMs and airlines in that time.  Most recently, Mr. Weir was Vice President and Treasurer of American Airlines from 2013 through 2020.  In that capacity he oversaw, among other things, the company’s banking, financing, leasing and aircraft procurement activities.

From 2005 through 2013, Mr. Weir was Vice President and Treasurer of US Airways.  He held the same position at America West Airlines from 2000 through 2005.  In each case, he had substantially the same scope of responsibilities as his most recent position at American Airlines.

In those years of airline financial management, Mr. Weir was instrumental in guiding his airline through the variety of economic shocks that have beset the industry since the year 2000 up to and including the recent pandemic.

Prior to working for an airline, Mr. Weir worked for airframe manufacturers Airbus and SAAB.  From 1988 to 2000, he worked at Airbus North America - most recently as Director, Sales Finance.  From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Weir was Manager, Finance at SAAB Aircraft of America.

Mr. Weir’s OEM experience includes negotiating and implementing financing assistance where necessary to support the sale and/or leasing of aircraft.  This includes distressed/workout situations and  serving on Creditors Committes.

Prior to that, Mr. Weir worked for CIT Corporation in various business development roles.

Mr. Weir holds both BSBA and MBA degrees from Creighton University (Omaha, NE).
